Initiatives

We do not chase a project just because funding exists for it.

The first question is whether an investment or activity can really improve the condition, resilience or long-term value of the place. Only then come the questions about partners, technology and money.

Status

Exploring is the only status on this page. It means a direction we would talk about. It does not mean approved, permitted, funded or started. Every idea depends on the rights over the specific site, the applicable environmental regime and the required permits.

01

Exploring

Water and environmental monitoring

Understanding water over time rather than from a single reading. Baseline measurements with a clear method, then low-maintenance sensors and early warning when something deviates.

  • water quality
  • pH
  • temperature
  • dissolved oxygen
  • turbidity
  • water level
  • weather station
  • telemetry
  • IoT

02

Exploring

Freshwater ecology and aquaculture

The managed reservoir has a low-intensity fish and freshwater context. We are interested in approaches that improve the condition of the water and the life in it without increasing the pressure on the site.

  • extensive aquaculture
  • fish communities
  • aeration
  • sonar
  • seasonal dynamics
  • water quality

03

Exploring

Biodiversity and habitats

From the documented observations of otters, herons and fish towards regular, described monitoring of birds, mammals, fish and habitats. Description first, decisions later.

  • camera traps
  • eDNA
  • habitat observation
  • birds
  • mammals
  • fish
  • riparian vegetation

04

Exploring

Land, forests and nature-based management

The forest and riparian land around the water is best managed through natural processes: stabilising banks with vegetation, caring for the forest sections, preventing fire and erosion.

  • erosion
  • bank vegetation
  • fire prevention
  • nature-based solutions
  • forest sections

Exploring

Digital and autonomous systems

A place without a permanent presence needs systems that work on their own: autonomous power, remote observation, automation of routine tasks and data that is checked before it is published.

  • autonomous solar power
  • telemetry
  • CCTV with an operational role
  • automation
  • low-energy systems

06

Exploring

Small-scale nature-friendly use

If the place ever receives people, it will be at low intensity and with nature first. Nothing listed here is offered today or permitted automatically.

  • birdwatching
  • nature photography
  • kayaks
  • SUP
  • sport fishing
  • nature trails

How we decide.

Every direction goes through the same questions: does it really help the place, who has the right to do it on this specific site, which environmental and permitting procedures does it require, and can it be sustained after external funding ends. If the answer to the first question is no, the others are not asked.

Open to a meaningful conversation.

If you work on something that genuinely fits one of these directions, we would be glad to discuss it. The conversation can be with a university, a conservation organisation, a technology company, a local body or another partner. The first question is always whether the idea is useful and appropriate for Reselets.
